General Description:
Use this simple IR receiver module for infrared remote control of your next project. With low power consumption and an easy to use package, it mates well with embedded electronics and can be used with common IR remotes. It is a miniaturized receiver for infrared remote control systems with the high speed PIN phototransistor and the full wave band preamplifier. The PIN diode and preamplifier are assembled on lead frame, the epoxy package is designed as an IR filter. The demodulated output signal can be directly decoded by a microprocessor. The VS1838B is compatible with all common IR remote control data formats and is the standard IR remote control receiver series, supporting all major transmission codes.
Features:
On-board VS1838B high sensitivity infrared receiving head
Support 3-5 v input voltage
On-board RC filter, work more stable
Output matching TTL, CMOS level digital signal
Specification:
Dimension: 6.4 x 7.4 x 5.1mm
Receiving angle: 90 °
Working voltage: 3 ~ 5V
Frequency: 38KHz
Receiving range: Min 18m, Typ 20m

Should the LED be on at any point during operation? I am trying to troubleshoot the IR Sensor for the Smart Car Lesson 2 project and the IR_Basic test code, both found on this site. Wondering if I can use the LED of the IR Receiver as troubleshooting mechanism.
I have several Osoyoo V2 SmartCars. I connected it according to the directions (signal to Arduino pin 10, 5V, GND). The IR receiver works for several weeks then stops working (no LED or Serial Monitor response). I am on my third module. This is very frustrating. What am I doing wrong? How do I fix the modules?
I am also experiencing the same issue but my led is just always on.
Check the IR remote controller battery, make sure the battery is not dead.
