OSOYOO Breakout Board for Pico series

Post Time: 2024-12-02 02:12:42 Category: Single Board

OVERVIEW

The OSOYOO Breakout Board for Pico series is a circuit board designed for Raspberry Pi Pico series, it adds LED indicators for each GPIO port, so you can use the indicators to know the status of the pins and easily verify your prototype code without even wiring it up.

We have added a reverse power protection circuit. When the user connects the power incorrectly, the system will automatically shut down to prevent damage to the circuit board. In addition, this break  board utilizes a 3-pin interface with V and GND pins on each pin for easy connection to sensor modules or SG90 servos.

With on-board screw terminals for seamless compatibility and a 5V/2A & 3.3V/500mA independent power supply providing extra power for servos and other sensors, these practical features make it easier to bring your great ideas to life.

Note:

The 3.3V operating voltage of the Pico Series RP2040 chip or RP2350 chip determines the maximum allowable voltage for any I/O pin. When using this expansion board, please pay attention to the position of the jump cap on the V_Selector, our factory default setting V pins are connected to 3.3V, please do not connect the IO ports to devices that output 5V, otherwise there is a risk of damaging the IO ports or burning the chip.
When the V pin uses the jump cap to select the voltage, it is effective only when the power is supplied through the external power supply via the VIN interface. If you want to use the V pin, but you only want to use the Pico’s on-board 3.3V power output, you will need to use a Dupont cable to connect the 3.3V pin at the S connector to the V pin at the V_Selector. (Both the 5V & 3.3V power outputs below the expansion board need to be connected to an external power source via the VIN interfaces to work properly.)

COMPATIBLE LIST

The original Raspberry Pi Pico family, referred to as Pico or Pico 1, comes in the following variants:

  • Pico
  • Pico H
  • Pico W
  • Pico WH

The second-generation Raspberry Pi Pico family is referred to as Pico 2. Pico 2 comes in the following variants:

  • Pico 2
  • Pico 2 W

FEATURES

  • Standard pin interface to achieve full compatibility with the pitch Pico series and all Pico series fully compatible boards
  • LED status indicators for all GPIOs,
  • Independent LED, The status LED is driven by the chip instead of the GPIO so the GPIO will not be affected.
  • Terminal block and header ,  connect to all GPIO headers of the Pico series, 2.54mm/0.1in pitch.
  • Analog/Digital pinouts with V & GND pins
  • Maximum current for additional V supply output: 5V/2A or 3.3V/500mA
  • Digital IO port 26 ports prepared to digital modules
  • Analog IO Port 4 ports prepared to analog sensor input
  • External 5V/3.3V/AGND power ports(Valid with VIN interfaces).
  • Anti-reverse power screw terminals
  • Automatic power switching, Pico uses USB power when connected to USB
  • On-board power switch
  • On-board reset button

DIAGRAM

  1. Pico board connector: Please pay attention to the orientation of the Pico board when using it. Inserting it incorrectly or misaligning
  2. LED indicatorsLED on if GPIO outputs/inputs high level, LED off if GPIO outputs/inputs low level.
  3. 2.54mm pitch pinheads:  The S terminal directly connects to the Pico board, it comes with V and GND pins for easy connection to sensors or servos.
  4. Screw terminalConnect to all GPIO headers of the Pico boards, 2.54mm/0.1in pitch
  5. XL1509 chip: DC/DC converter, it supports a maximum output power of 5V/2A.
  6. ME6210A33M3G chip: LDO, it supports a maximum output power of 3.3V/500mA.
  7. V selector: When using an external DC power supply via a DC connector or screw terminal, it has the jumper cap mounted on the “3V3” side by default, which means that the 3.3V voltage on the I/O board is coming from the ME6210A33M3G chip, and the V pin can supply up to 500mA of current. With the jumper cap on the “5V” side, the V pin on the I/O board can provide up to 2A of current.
  8. Power switch
  9. Resrt Button
  10. Power terminal block: We recommend using a 7-12V DC power supply.
  11. DC005-2.1 socket: We recommend using a 7-12V DC power supply.
  12. External power out pinheads: Available when using an external DC power supply.
  13. SI2302 chip: N-Channel MOSFET, here we use it in a power supply screw terminal anti-reverse circuit
  14. 74HC04 chips: It is a hex inverter. We use it to connect each I/O port to control the corresponding indicator.

Note

If you power the Pico board via the USB cable and install a jumper cap anywhere on the V_Selector , there will be no voltage on the V pins. You can remove the jumper cap on V_Selector and install the jumper cap on the S-3.3V pin along with the nearby V pin, which will allow you to use the Pico board’s on-board 3.3V power supply.

Do not use both the DC connector and the screw terminal port to power the board as you risk damaging the board and frying the power supply.

ASSEMBLY

When inserting, please pay attention to the boards‘ orientation, ensure the Pico board is correctly connected before applying power to the power supply interface to avoid damaging the board due to misalignment.

(The Pico board is not included in this product, you will need to bring your own or buy it directly from the official website.)
