Unique 1-Wire interface requires only one port pin for communication.
Thermometer resolution is user selectable from 9 to 12 Bits.
Each device has a unique 64-Bit serial code stored in an on-Board rom.
Additionally, the resolution of the temperature sensor can be set to 9, 10, 11, or 12 bits which corresponds to increments of 0.5°C, 0.25°C, 0.125°C, and 0.0625°C, respectively. The default resolution at power-up is 12-bit.
Applications: Thermostatic Controls, Industrial Systems, Consumer Products, Thermometers, or Any Thermally Sensitive System.
DS18B20 uses a digital temperature sensor with a single bus interface to obtain the temperature value by measuring the resistance value related to the internal temperature of the sensor. The DHT11, on the other hand, is a digital temperature and humidity sensor that measures both temperature and humidity and outputs data via a single bus interface.
Output Format: The DS18B20 sensor outputs the temperature value in digital form, which can be read directly to the specific temperature value. While DHT11 sensor outputs temperature and humidity values in digital form, it needs to parse the data packet to get the specific temperature and humidity values.
The DS18B20 digital thermometer provides temperature measurements with 9 to 12 bit resolution and can be programmed with a programmable non-volatile memory cell for lower and upper temperature alarms. The DS18B20 communicates with the host computer using a single bus protocol, requiring only one signal line and one ground line.
It has a temperature measurement range of -55°C to +125°C (-67°F to +257°F). The test accuracy in the range of -10°C to 70°C can reach ±0.4°C. Additionally it can operate in parasitic mode, where power is supplied directly to the chip through the signal line, thus eliminating the need for an additional power supply.
Each DS18B20 has a globally unique 64-bit serial number, which allows multiple DS18B20s to be connected in series on the same follower bus for networking, requiring only one processor to control multiple DS18B20s distributed over a large area.
This type of networking is especially suitable for HVAC environment control, building, equipment, food temperature measurement and industrial temperature measurement, as well as process monitoring and control applications.
